Norwich City failed to extend their winning run in the Women’s National League Division One South East to five games as they drew 1-1 with Worthing on the south coast.

Hosts Worthing displayed some excellent composure in possession in the first half and caused City a number of problems as a result. The Rebels took the lead in the 19th minute when Chloe Winchester latched onto the loose ball and slotted past Sarah Quantrill from 18 yards.

Striker Natasha Snelling was an isolated figure for a large portion of the opening period but City took more risks after the break to support her, and were quickly rewarded for that. It was Ellie Smith who drew them level, nodding home Anna Larkins’ in-swinging corner to score for the second successive week.

Larkins’ set-pieces continued to cause alarm in the Worthing box as City pushed for a winner, but they were unable to find the crucial finishing touch before the final whistle blew.

Norwich City: Quantrill, Larkins (c), Flye, Strauss, Parker, Morran, Knights, Tomlinson, Smith, Todd, Snelling. Subs: Daviss, Symonds, Hailes, Shaw, Lawrence.
