James Maddison expressed his delight at Norwich City's latest East Anglian derby day triumph over Ipswich Town on Saturday.

Marcelino Nunez's free kick extended the Canaries' unbeaten run in this fixture to 15 years, with the victory helping their push for a Championship play-off place with just five matches of the campaign remaining.

The Tottenham Hotspur and England creator spent two years in Norfolk and netted the winner in City's 1-0 victory over Ipswich at Portman Road in October 2017 and has retained an affinity for his former side.

Via his X account, Maddison shared a message of celebration after the victory, writing: "Just in case anyone needed reminding…East Anglia is and always will be yellow and green. 15 years now?"

Maddison departed Carrow Road in 2018 to join Leicester in a £20million deal before subsequently moving to Spurs last summer.

The attacking midfielder is hoping for a strong end to his campaign to secure his place in Gareth Southgate's England squad ahead of this summer's European Championships.

Former City full back Ivo Pinto and derby hero Dani Pacheco also sent messages of goodwill prior to the game. Other Norwich stars of old, including Mario Vrancic and Alex Tettey, posted pictures on Instagram watching the game.
