Norwich City squandered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with relegation-threatened Sheffield Wednesday late on.
Goals from Josh Sargent and Borja Sainz put the Canaries comfortably in the driving seat for what would have been a huge win at Hillsborough, but headed goals from Michael Ihekwe and Michael Smith got Danny Rohl's side level late on.
Coventry's loss at Southampton will serve as a minor consolation for Norwich as they extended their cushion to seventh place by a point, but the evening goes down as a seriously missed opportunity after a disastrous second half in S6.
They have the opportunity to pick themselves up when they travel to Deepdale to face Preston North End on Saturday, although a win over Huddersfield will have buoyed the Lilywhites ahead of City's visit.
