Jonathan Rowe's return to action will be a huge boost to his Norwich City team-mates, according to Gabriel Sara.

The English youth international has been out with a hamstring injury since mid-February, having started the season in fine form and rocketed to the top of the Canaries' goalscoring charts.

He's since been caught by talismanic striker Josh Sargent, but remains a vital weapon in City's bid for play-off success in the next four games and beyond.

He returned to team training before the midweek draw with Sheffield Wednesday and although he didn't travel to Hillsborough, he could feature in this weekend's meeting with Preston North End.

Sara says that could be a game-changer for Norwich, with their fitness problems beginning to ease after another blow in the form of Liam Gibbs' quad injury.

"It's perfect for us," he said. "Jonny is a really important player and we missed him a lot. You can see that he scores a lot of goals.

"He's a special player and I think it's good for us, for the competition. Everyone wants to play, and it's good for us to have one more guy to help.

"We are really looking forward to seeing him on the pitch again."

Rowe's recovery means more competition for places in forward areas, including a potential relocation for Sara after his seconding to the right-hand side in recent games.

The Brazilian has been enjoying the liberty he's afforded out wide, but is happy to play wherever he's asked to as City's promotion push ramps up.

"I like it," he continued, asked bout playing on the right. The manager gives me the freedom to basically go wherever I want.

"I can drop as a 'number eight' or maybe sometimes a 'number six', I can attack as a winger or even sometimes as a striker.

"I like the freedom that I have there, but the most important thing is to help the team. If the manager thinks that I'm good playing there and I help the team there then I'm happy to play there. It's perfect for me."
