Norwich City have announced that goalkeeper Dan Barden has signed a new two-year deal at the club.
The 23-year-old was one of several Canaries players out of contract at the end of the current campaign but has extended his stay at Carrow Road until 2026.
Barden has made four first-team appearances for the club, all coming in the Championship title-winning campaign back in 2020-21 when he deputised for Tim Krul and Michael McGovern.
Injury and illness setbacks have frustrated his progress since, but he remains highly rated at Carrow Road.
He fought testicular cancer in 2021 but was given the all-clear and returned to playing just seven months after his diagnosis was made public.
Barden has spent time out on loan at Maidstone United but suffered a major knee injury that kept him sidelined for 10 months until the start of this year. He has made three appearances for the Canaries' U21s this term.
The Welsh youth international expressed delight at extending his stay at the club as he looks for a more consistent campaign next season.
"I'm feeling really good. It's been a long journey, but really happy to get the deal done and be here for another two years," Barden told club official channels.
"I really appreciate everything the club has done for me. It's been a tough few years, but happy to get another two to get back out playing and do what I know I can do.
"I've been here five or six years now, ever since I was a scholar. The club's been amazing, I've seen all the changes at the training ground.
"It's an elite environment here with all the facilities we've got, the pool, the pitches, the gym. I've seen it since it was portacabins. I've loved being here, and happy to be here for another two years."
Barden joined City from Arsenal on trial as the North London club informed the youngster he was free to leave early from his scholarship. He eventually signed for the club in November 2018, with his first appearance for the youth side arriving against Manchester United.
He is part of a goalkeeping stable led by coach Paul Clements that includes Angus Gunn and George Long.
