Chesham United 1 Norwich City Women 6
Norwich City will go into their final Women’s National League Division One South East game of the season with their unbeaten record still intact after they thrashed Chesham United in Buckinghamshire.
Centre-back Hope Strauss opened the scoring in the ninth minute with her first goal in yellow and green from open play, pouncing on the loose ball after Lauren Hailes’ effort had been parried by the Chesham goalkeeper.
City dominated proceedings from that point onwards and it was not long before Natasha Snelling doubled their lead. Ellie Smith, who provided the assist for Snelling’s effort, then added a brilliant individual goal of her own before the break to make it three.
Less than five minutes after the interval, Hailes extended the Canaries’ advantage further when her effort was too strong for the home keeper to hold, before Holly Kennard curled home a brilliant fifth.
City’s antics in front of goal did not end there as Snelling powered home her second on 73 minutes. Chesham did net a consolation through Becky Fraser, but it did not take the shine off an excellent away performance.
Norwich City: Quantrill, Larkins (c), Flye, Strauss, Parker, Knights, Morran, Hailes, Smith, Kennard, Snelling. Subs: Daviss, Symonds, Shaw, Lawrence, Pernet.
