Ex-Norwich City winger Elliott Bennett is on the lookout for a new club after reaching 600 games at Shrewsbury Town.

The League One side have announced that the 35-year-old will leave the club at the end of his current contract this summer after the conclusion of their campaign, which saw Paul Hurst's men finish 19th.

Bennett, 35, made 80 appearances for Norwich between 2011 and 2016, famously scoring the winner in a 1-0 victory away at Tottenham in the Premier League back in 2012.

The winger joined Norwich from Brighton in 2011 and played a key part in helping them remain in the Premier League in his first season under Paul Lambert. He became a popular figure at Carrow Road until his departure to Blackburn, linking up with the Scot again.

His final game for Shrewsbury last weekend was the 600th of a career that includes spells with Blackburn, Brighton and Bury. Bennett has played in all four of England's top leagues since his senior debut with Wolves in 2007.

Writing on Instagram about the milestone, Bennett wrote: "Just want to thank everyone that I have had the pleasure of meeting during my 600 games.

"Those that have guided, supported and made me feel 10 feet tall when the chips were down! From Council estate to the Premier League. 600 career games, I dreamt of 1 and 599 games later I’ve been fortunate enough to hit 600."

Bennett is now weighing up his options after exiting Shrewsbury following his second spell at the League One club.

He departs New Meadow with positive memories and no regrets.

"Truly honoured to have had the opportunity to represent my home county club over the last two years," the former Norwich winger said.

"Playing in front of my kids has been a massive highlight and one I will cherish. I've met some incredible people and loved being a part of the club from the moment I signed.

"Thank you to all the players, staff, and fans who have supported me during my time. Who knows what the future holds, but for now, thank you."
