A Sunday League football team, who had their kit stolen, have kicked-off the season in a brand new strip thanks to a local street lighting company.

AFC Oak, who play in Division Three B of the Norwich Sunday Football League, had a full set of shirts, shorts and socks taken by thieves at the end of last season, and were in desperate need of a new kit ahead of their 2010/11 campaign. On hearing of the team’s plight, Bowthorpe-based business T T Jones Electrical Ltd stepped in to ensure the Oak boys weren’t ‘light’ of a strip for the big kick-off.

AFC Oak’s manager Rob Bridge commented: “It’s fantastic that T T Jones Electrical have helped us out once again - they bought our previous kit two years ago as well. It gives all the lads a real boost for this season. And after gaining promotion from Division Four B last year, we are all really confident of stepping up another level this time around.”

Company director Paul Jones said: “We were shocked when we heard that the old kit had been stolen, and didn’t have to think twice about replacing it. We hope the team can build on their success of last season and continue working their way up the league.”
