Jim Magilton today stormed out a press conference ahead of tomorrow's game against Coventry after venting his fury over reports that he had held a secret meeting with eight of his squad.

The story, written by Derek Davis of the EADT and Evening Star, said the players involved in the meeting were told they would be the backbone of his team for the future.

Below is full transcript of today's press conference.

Jim Magilton: “Gareth McAuley is fine and will play.

“David Wright has a slight hamstring strain but should be ok.

“We have Alex (Bruce), Owen (Garvan) and Ben(Thatcher) suspended so there will be one or two changes”

Derek Davis: “Are you happy with Pim coming in at left back if David doesn't make it?

JM “Pim can come in and do a job no problem. He is an ambitious young man with a fantastic attitude to the game. We were going to develop Pim as a centre half but you have an extra string to your bow if you can play full back as well.

“Gareth has played full back for his country and never let them down. When you can handle the ball as well as Balkestein can then you won't have a problem.

Elvin King: “Is Campo a consideration?

JM: “He is always a consideration and can play at the back and as always is in the squad.”

EK: “Can I ask about Alex Bruce I see Derek has done a story about Norwich might be interested.

JM: “I have not heard a dicky bird. The situation with Alex has not changed.

Dave Allard (Daily Mirror) asks who is suspended.

JM: “I'm looking forward to the game. It was a poor performance on Saturday and we can't get away from that. We had a poor performance against Norwich and bounced back against Bristol City and have to do that again.

“I know players are upset because they know they didn't play particularly well and lost the game which was disappointing. What we now have to do is regroup get a performance away from home and look forward to game.”

(at this point Jim is answering a text)

“It is a game of football we can win and I'm looking forward to it.

“Everyone in the championship thinks they can win any game.”

(Audio begins)

EK: “Have you anything you want to add about the story about the meeting that took place?”

JM: “No, nothing at all - absolutely nothing.

“If it is his opinion (pointing at DD) 'in my opinion' or 'allegedly' you are printing lies.”

DD tries to ask what is a lie?

JM: “Someone has told you that and he is a liar.

DD “But people are telling me these things.”

JM: “They are lying, he is a liar, he is a liar. If it is your opinion, we had this conversation before, or you say allegedly then I can live with that but you are printing it as fact.”

DD: “You had that meeting…”

JM “I had a meeting yesterday behind closed doors. I have meetings, personal meetings with my players, it is my job - Shut Up! It is my job to get to know my players as individuals and as a group.

“I had a group yesterday because I had a special friend down, closed the doors, it was behind closed doors no-one else is invited. I do it on a daily basis. End of.

“See you later. End of.”

Magilton goes to walk out.

DA: “Jim don't walk off, come on, sit down…

“JM: F*** off don't you talk to me…”

Magilton then storms out.
