Acle United Ladies travelled to Rivers Park to take on Stalham Town Ladies.

On a very warm and breezy day and a big pitch conditions were always going to be difficult for both sides.

Acle were missing last week’s hat-trick scorer Sophie Gillet through illness and also Emily Anderson on vacation. Acle started very slowly and took time to get in to their stride,

Stalham decided they were going to defend in numbers and make things very difficult for Acle to break them down.

On the 20-minute mark Acle earned a corner on the left side which was whipped in by Cara was cleared only as far as Helen who was loitering on the edge of the box - and she hit a thunderbolt that crashed against the crossbar.

With the Stalham Keeper being kept on her toes by Lois and Sophie with decent efforts she seemed to be keeping her side in the game, unitl on the 40 minute mark the ball broke to Helen and from around 35 yards let fly and yet again hit the bar but Sophie Baker was on hand to drill home the rebound.

In the second half Acle started quicker and were moving the ball well but were still being denied by the Stalham back line.

After 70 minutes some lovely football played out of defence into midfield then into Jodie who cleverly laid the ball to Baker who finished brilliantly.

Acle keeper Holl was being superbly protected by the impressive Nethersell, McGuire Emmerson and Anderson.

With the clock ticking Acle finished the game off in stlye with Baker beating the impressive Meale in the Stalham goal to complete her hat-trick for the second time this season.

Credit to Stalham who had a game plan and stuck to it.

Final score: Stalham Town Ladies 0, Acle United Ladies 3
