Fakenham Town kick off their Ridgeons First Division season at Gorleston on Tuesday with a “be patient” plea to supporters from joint manager Mark King.

Of the Ghosts' pre-season, King said: “I cannot knock what the players have done. This pre-season has been stronger than last year. The thing that encourages me more than anything is the young lads. They don't look fazed. I hope people are patient. These young players need two more years. The U18s will be important this season, if someone in that team is stronger than someone in the senior sides, they will get their chance.”

The plea for patience was echoed by vice-chairman Paul Wright, who welcomed two new first team sponsors. “We are not a club that has loads of money. We therefore have to rely on home-grown talent.”

The new first team strip has been sponsored by Hain Celestial and players will wear shirts and ties provided by the town's Tandoori restaurant.
