Gary Setchell saw his excellent start as Wisbech Town manager continue with a 5-1 win over promoted Wellingborough Whitworth.
The first ever meeting between the teams saw the visitors the better side in the opening exchanges. Wisbech came into the game as the half wore on and took the lead in stoppage time, Adam Millson tapping home from four yards from Michael Frew’s pull-back.
It took just four minutes of the second half to extend the lead. In-form striker Alex Beck raced onto Billy Smith’s ball over the top to complete a classic breakaway goal from a Whitworth’s free-kick.
Having kept clean sheets in the previous three matches, the Wisbech defence would have been disappointed to concede a scrappy goal in the 72nd minute to make it 2-1. That was as good as it got for the visitors and six minutes later Beck grabbed his second from subs Josh Ford’s unselfish cross. Frew added a fourth in the 86th minute with Ford scoring in the second added minute.
