Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers looks set to finally sign ex-Norwich City defender Ryan Bennett, eight years to the day after he rejected Swansea City to join the Canaries.

Bennett is primed to join the Foxes on a loan deal until the end of the season after finding himself out of favour under Nuno Espirito Santos at Molineux.

The England Under-21 international is travelling to the King Power to complete his move subject to a medical. The move will reportedly include an option to make the deal permanent in the summer.

Bennett rejected Rodgers prior to joining City back in 2012, where the Swans were close to securing his services.

He was rumoured to have been driving down to the Liberty Stadium in order to complete his move before the Canaries swooped in and signed the former Ipswich Town youth product with minutes to spare on Deadline Day.

Ruddy has since played second fiddle to Portugal keeper Rui Patricio in the top flight but Bennett started 34 games as Wanderers finished seventh and qualified for the Europa League.

Young defender Max Kilman has worked himself ahead of Bennett in the pecking order, with the former City defender struggling to make Nuno's matchday squads.

Leander Dendoncker and Romain Saiss have both been preferred ahead of Bennett. The former Grimsby skipper has made 92 appearances and scored three goals but it seems his time at Molineux could be coming to an end.

Willy Boly is also set to return after a ankle injury, leaving Bennett in the shadows of the first-team.
