Thorpe Ladies took on Taverham and the match couldn't have been any more different from the previous week.

The squad for Sunday's game came from Kirsty, Kerry, Jemma, Millie, Lauren in defence with midfielders Rebecca, Alice F, Alice L, Lauren and strikers Charlotte and Bex and substitutes Maise, Jazz and Meg.

The match between Thorpe United and Taverham couldn't have been any more different from last week.

With Thorpe still gaining familiarity in this league, lessons need to learnt and quickly, and it showed in this match with Charlotte scoring early where in previous matches Thorpe have been conceding goals.

With the midfield attacking efforts coming from Charlotte, Lauren and Rebecca they had complete control of the match and made many more goal-scoring opportunities for the front two.

Only some suspect finishing and excellent shot stopping from Taverham goalkeeper prevented the match from being effectively over as a contest midway through the first half.

Thorpe then started taking the chances presented to them. Next to score was Lauren who deserved to get on the scoresheet herself after another strong midfield performance.

After a couple of chances had gone wide, Bex found her shooting boots and used them to perfection with a smart hat-trick using her strengths, which are both quick feet and mind.

At half time with the score at 5-0, the game would be beyond Thorpe's opposition who had always been keen to give Thorpe as difficult a match as they have had up to this point in the season.

Coaches Neil and Ian made some changes at half time with Meg and Lauren coming on for the hard-working Millie and Alice Ladbroke.

The second half started with an early goal but it was Taverham who would have reward for their endeavours with a smart strike giving Kirsty no chance, 5-1.

Scoring this goal gave Taverham new hope and belief, but defenders Jemma and Jazz took control and with the help of Alice Ford managed to wrestle the game back from their foes.

During the second half the ever increasing fitness level of the girls came into play, and with Lauren being more able to join in with the forwards, scored her second of the game and Thorpe's sixth.

Last season's top goal scorer Bex, and obviously keen to remain so this year as well, quickly scored another brace making her personal tally for this match alone five and therefore Thorpe's eighth of the afternoon.

Right at the end of the game Rebecca carried on her own excellent goal scoring ratio with the ninth goal and is going to be pushing Bex all the way for the goal-scoring bragging rights this season.

At the end of the game Thorpe had played well but still need to take more of the chances that are being offered to them by the midfielders and the more attack-minded defenders.

Player of the match - Kerry for her defensive work but also some superb link play with the midfielders in front of her.
