Brandon back on top after Tomlinson hat-trick
Copleston Ladies 0, Brandon Ladies 4
BRANDON Ladies regained their top spot in the Suffolk Women’s League with a 4-0 victory at Copleston.
Both teams competed well with Brandon finding it difficult to create many goal-scoring opportunities but after changing things around to a 4-5-1 they started to control midfield and create chances.
Forshaw opened the scoring on the half hour followed by Tomlinson just before half-time after good work in midfield.
The second half followed a similar pattern to the first with the home side resilient to the Brandon pressure, some good saves from their keeper the woodwork and two disallowed goals frustrated Brandon’s attack but they got their reward after some good work down the left by Love delivered for Tomlinson’s second of the match.

An excellent start from Brandon saw the Lasses go 2-0 up within the first five minutes, the first a long kick from Amacker putting Masters through to finish, then the second a great passing move, again finished superbly by Masters. The game was turning out to be an exceptional one with Brandon more than matching a strong physical Norwich side.
Both sides were competing well with strong but fair tackles going in all over the pitch. A strong defensive first half from Zawiasa and Robertson saw Norwich restricted to long shots, only getting into the Lasses box with the odd corner or long throw.
More strong performances in midfield from Dargan, Page, Skipp and Bales saw not only excellent attacking, but also all working back to defend.
An excellent first half all-round saw the Lasses go in with a well-deserved 2-0 lead.
Norwich came out a different team in the second half, pinning the Brandon team back into their own half for the first 10 minutes before finally pulling a goal back.
Norwich continued to attack the Brandon goal, sensing they could get back into the game, but the Lasses steadied the ship and started to take control once more with Masters completing her hat-trick after an outstanding passing move to give the Lasses a 3-1 lead.
The Lasses lost concentration as Norwich came back into the game scoring, almost straight from the kick off as the Lasses stood and watched.
With only one goal separating the teams, Norwich and Brandon continued to attack, both relying heavily on great performances from the goalkeepers.
Amacker in the Brandon goal matched each one of the Lasses players, all with outstanding performances.
With the time ticking, the Lasses took control of the last ten minutes and sealed all three points with a goalmouth scramble finally being poked in by Dargan for a well-deserved goal after all her hard work.
Another superb performance, every player giving their all.
PoM: The whole team.
