Jacob Sorensen has been kept at left-back as Norwich City make two changes to their starting line-up for this lunchtime’s Championship clash at Bristol City.

The Canaries are without left-back Xavi Quintilla (hip) again but the Spaniard is hoping to return to contention ahead of Tuesday’s home game against Millwall.

The Villarreal loanee pulled out of the warm-up ahead of the 1-1 draw at Brentford on Tuesday night which finished a three-match winning streak, with midfielder Sorensen having to step in as emergency cover at late notice.

The two changes come in attacking midfield, where Marco Stiepermann and Przemek Placheta come in for Mario Vrancic and Todd Cantwell, who drop to the bench, with young full-back Bali Mumba also among the substitutes in Quintilla’s absence.

Centre-back Christoph Zimmermann has returned to training after missing the last four games with a calf problem but is not yet ready to return, while striker Adam Idah serves the second game of a three-match suspension for a recent red card.

Otherwise, City are expected to be without full-back Sam Byram (hamstring), midfielder Kieran Dowell (ankle) and winger Onel Hernandez (groin) until January.

Bristol make four changes to their starting XI, with former Canaries striker Chris Martin and Nahki Wells replacing Famara Diedhiou and Antoine Semenyo up front.

West Brom and Northern Ireland legend Chris Brunt, 35, and Jay Dasilva replace Tommy Rowe and Tyreeq Barkinson in midfield.

The Robins’ strong start to the campaign, winning their opening four league games, has been knocked off course by a host of injury problems.

They haven’t won in four matches and were beaten 1-0 at Bournemouth on Wednesday evening, following on from a 1-1 draw with Swansea and a 1-0 loss to Middlesbrough at home.

Central defender Alfie Mawson and full-back Steven Sessegnon have both returned to parent club Fulham for treatment, Mawson after knee surgery and Sessegnon due to a hamstring injury.

Former Aston Villa and Derby forward Andreas Weimann has also been ruled out by a long-term knee injury and defender Nathan Baker is expected to be out until later in the year with a hamstring injury.

Midfield duo Joe Williams and Liam Walsh are also yet to feature this season due to thigh injuries.

Bristol have finished in mid-table in each of their five campaigns since promotion as League One champions in 2015, finishing 12th last season, as they continue to chase a return to the top flight for the first time since 1980.
