Rest assured, Daniel Farke is giving Norwich City’s Carrow Road struggles his full attention.

The German head coach devoted a full eight minutes of his press conference on Monday to answering one simple question - how concerned is he at City’s sparse productivity?

“I am not concerned. For me it is more coincidence,” he said. “Let’s say after Ipswich and Arsenal we had an away game and the opponent takes their first chance in the 46th minute then that game could have ended in the same result.

“In all the last five home games we have been the better team.

“We have been in very close matches, we either win by one goal, draw or lose by one goal. We are not content with our home points and we want to improve this and to do that we have to score more goals. That is a fact.

“As good as we are defensively at the moment we will concede goals and you have to be able to score more than one goal.

“That is a topic we have to work on. But it is not easy to work on this when there isn’t so much time on the training pitch and we have personal problems in the attacking areas of the squad.”

Farke is adamant City have shown the ‘brutality’ he demands in those stirring wins away from Carrow Road.

“It is quite important to be clinical and brutal in the finishing situations,” he said. “In the away games we are able to use the first chance. Reading was our first shot on target and we scored.

“The same at Brentford. Now look at our home games, we had 25 shots against Hull, hit the post twice and we have to accept a late draw.

“Marco Stiepermann, in the first half against Derby, has a good finish above the keeper but he hits the bar.

“Then in the second half when the keeper is lying on the ground and he shoots from three metres at him, the same situation against Bristol City and he wasn’t able to score.

“Josh Murphy is one-versus-one against Burton with the keeper to beat. We score, we win.

“We can practise shooting and finishing situations all the time but it is more an attitude and a habit. You have to be convinced 100pc in the game that you are going to finish the chance.

“At this level it is so important to score the first goal. When we do that, we win.”
