Norwich City head coach Daniel Farke had no complaints with Ben Godfrey’s late red card in a tense 1-0 Premier League relegation shootout win over Bournemouth at Carrow Road.
Godfrey is now set to miss three games, following his lunge on Callum Wilson in front of the dugouts, which originally earned him a yellow card before referee Paul Tierney over-turned his decision after viewing the incident on a pitchside monitor.
Teemu Pukki's first half penalty - his 40th goal for the Canaries - proved the difference after Steve Cook was also dismissed for handling Ondrej Duda's goalbound clip.
Farke had no issue with Godfrey's dismissal or the fact he was the first Premier League player to be sent off with the aid of the official consulting a television screen.
"I don't want to speak too much about the process. We accept that and for me both red cards were deserved. The first half incident and also Ben's," he said. "I have watched it back since. He is a really good lad but that is our way, sometimes youth can lead to naivety. To tackle that badly was not Ben's intention. Ben is a good guy and he got over-excited and emotional.
"He apologised immediately to Callum (Wilson) and I can tell you he was probably the most disappointed guy in our dressing room. For that, it is quite normal a young player must learn lessons and we hope this never happens again.
"There'll be no accusations from us. We will support him. Grant Hanley was fantastic when he came on. He won all his duels.
"We had so many chances to score the second and third goals. Teemu Pukki, one against one with the keeper, Emi Buendia, the same, (Ondrej) Duda and Todd Cantwell all had good situations. If you don't score the second anything can happen.
"It was so important we were switched on in our defending and fully committed to bring this win over the line.
"It was good for the confidence that we can finish a home game with a clean sheet. Our first this season at home in the league."
