Norwich City head coach Daniel Farke’s pre-match press call took on a maternal theme at Colney, with Onel Hernandez a doubt for Brighton as he attends the birth of his first child.

Farke revealed Hernandez had missed training on Friday to be with his partner at the birth and the City chief insists he will be guided by the Cuban wide player in the hours ahead.

Kenny McLean became a new dad earlier this week and is in the squad while Tim Krul has also been passed fit after his knee scare against Manchester United.

Ralf Fahrmann is back in the mix along with Emi Buendia and Jamal Lewis - the latter two picking up a knock and feeling unwell respectively in the closing stages of the 3-1 defeat to the Red Devils.

But Todd Cantwell (hamstring) and Ibrahim Amadou (knee) are doubts for this weekend. Here is Farke, in his own words, on all the hot topics.

Onel Hernandez

He is a doubt for the same reasons as Kenny McLean might have been earlier in the week. He is at this moment in the hospital with his partner. Hopefully we have a nice surprise later on. It seems like things are in the right place but he missed team training today (Friday) and will also miss travelling down with us to Brighton. We still have some hopes later on he can travel and we have him available.

Of course not a perfect situation for the game after coming back from a longer term injury. As a head coach I was tempted to send one of the injured players to hospital. But he didn't accept this.

We have some good choices. Christoph Zimmermann is a guy you can trust.

But Onel wanted to go himself and of course we accept there are bigger topics than just football. It might not help us for this game because you want proper, prepared concentration but we are still hopeful.

Tim Krul (knee)

Good news. He was able to train the last two days. He over-stretched his knee but thankfully nothing too serious. He panicked a bit during the game because it was the same knee he had the ACL. He can start at Brighton. Also good news Ralf Fahrmann is back and available. He will also travel with us.

Todd Cantwell (hamstring)

A little bit doubtful. He had some problems with his hamstring earlier in the week. We had to calm his load down. He just joined us today for the first time in team training. It was alright during the session but now we have to wait to see how his body reacts.

Ibrahim Amadou (knee)

The same as Todd. He over-stretched his knee in the last game. He needed some treatment during the week and today was the first time he was with us on the training pitch. It will be a late call with him and Todd.

Mario Vrancic (ill)

He was ill for nearly seven days. He has been back in the last two days in team training and he is alright but this game comes a bit too soon. If he is able to train with us consistently from now on then the Watford game could be the first time he is a topic for this game.

Kenny McLean

Congratulations to him for becoming a father. He missed one session, but that was acceptable when you have such a situation.

Emi Buendia (shin)

He got a knock and he was hobbling around for a couple of days and in some pain but he didn't miss a training session for that.
