Tim Krul is one of the best in the business for Daniel Farke, with the Norwich City number one’s Premier League form set to earn him a Holland international recall.

Krul has not featured for his country since suffering a serious knee injury during a Euro 2016 qualifier.

But the experienced stopper was impressive again in the 1-0 Carrow Road defeat to Liverpool watched by his national boss Ronald Koeman and Dutch goalkeeper coach Patrick Lodewijks.

Farke revealed after the Reds' loss he had spoken to former Everton and Southampton boss Koeman during a flying visit to Norfolk.

Holland will be one of the favourites to win this summer's European Championships and have two friendlies scheduled in March against the USA and Spain.

"I don't want to give advice to Ronald," said Farke. "He is an experienced coach. I did meet him. He knows what to do but when you watch such a game and how big an impact Tim has then without a doubt you have to say he is one of the best keepers in this league this season.

"It is strange a keeper of the quality of Ralf Fahrmann has to sit on the bench because he is an outstanding keeper and Michael McGovern has been top class but it says everything about Tim's performances. It would be well deserved for Tim to get a call up. He was fantastic again in this (Liverpool) game."

Krul has proved an inspired free transfer signing after playing a leading role in the club's Championship title win. He has also mentored the Canaries' young defensive talent and Farke admits the 31-year-old is a crucial part of his leadership group.

"You need to have leaders in the dressing room, you need leaders on the pitch. And we have definitely a few, with Grant Hanley, Christoph Zimmermann, Tim and Alex Tettey. I think we have a quite a good mix," he said. "We will always back and support and try to improve the young players, but you can't be successful as a football team just because we put 11 18 year old lads on the pitch.

"No chance at all. Otherwise several other clubs will do this as well.

"It's always a bit more difficult when you're fighting against relegation. We have a really, really good group and a great spirit, and this spirit is one of our strengths."
