Emi Buendia is dreaming of an Argentina call-up and Daniel Farke joked on Friday Lionel Messi should be relishing the chance to play with the exciting Norwich City ace.

The 22-year-old will be a key figure in Saturday's Premier League trip to Burnley, after a starring role in the 3-2 win over Manchester City.

Buendia did not look out of place against compatriots Nicolas Otamendi and Sergio Aguero for Pep Guardiola's squad and already has four top-flight assists.

The former Real Madrid junior played for Argentina at youth level and earlier this week made it clear that is a major career goal.

"If he carries on with the performances he showed against Manchester City there is a good chance," said Farke. "Then you can speak about how it would be a good experience for Messi to play alongside Emi Buendia perhaps. It is a long way to reach that point. For now, he has to prove every week he can perform on a top class level.

"A sign of quality for offensive players is always end product and he has delivered in a big way.

"The last time we had players on international duty we were a bit unlucky with injuries so for that I don't know if I would be overly happy, but fingers are crossed at some point in the future he will get a call."

Farke is confident Buendia and the rest of his team-mates will get back down to business at Turf Moor after plotting a shock result against the champions that received global attention.

"The sun has been shining this week. That is for sure," he said. "It is important you value this even though it was only three points but an amazing day for the whole club and the supporters. From Tuesday onwards we went back to proper, focused work.

"This game against Man City was good for the confidence but it will not help us at all against Burnley.

"I was not carried away. Perhaps it was too big (a reaction) but Man City is such an important topic in all countries and when there is a win against them it is a big story. Last season, Liverpool and Man City lose a game or two, they were unbeaten in 18 and finished with 12 wins in a row.

"Sometimes it is a day when Christmas and Easter come together, they hit the bar eight times, get a red card after 10 minutes and with a deflected strike you win 1-0. But I didn't hear anyone say it was undeserved."
