Daniel Farke is braced for a rocky road in the Premier League but up for the challenge of performing another footballing ‘miracle’.

Norwich City defied the odds to pull off a Championship title win, in the head coach's second season in charge at Carrow Road.

Farke sounded a bullish tone when the top flight fixtures produced an opening night date at European Cup holders Liverpool, and the City chief is urging his squad to be fearless.

Norwich return to pre-season training on July 1 as the countdown to a testing opener at Anfield begins in earnest.

"We earned the right to play in the best league in the world," he said. "We know the situation and how we have done this.

"In terms of our development, of course, we are ahead of schedule but we take it. It's lovely and we know, in terms of salaries and transfer fees, we are in 20th position but we will fight with the tools we have and stick together. That is the most important thing.

"I am pretty sure there will be difficult times this season but we have to stick to our principles and philosophy and how we want to attack football games with bravery.

"The most important thing is this spirit and togetherness, because that will carry us next season. We know how difficult it will be but let's work the next miracle." Farke's players are certainly on message and up for the battles ahead.

Ben Godfrey emerged as a defensive titan after forging a robust centre back pairing with Christoph Zimmermann.

The 21-year-old, speaking to the club's official Youtube channel on City's end-of-season documentary, admits the speed of his top-flight tilt has caught even him by surprise.

"It has been a mad journey and it has happened really quickly but I have enjoyed it. I probably didn't see this coming," he said. "A lot of people would tell you the same, it is the best league in the world. I am looking forward to the challenge.

"It'll be a tough year but one we can embrace and we are fortunate to have guys who know what the Premier League is all about. They can help us with past experiences. We have to back ourselves.

"To earn promotion was a feeling that is literally incredible and one I will never forget.

"You don't know how many times you can savour that in your career, so we had to enjoy it."
