Daniel Farke has wasted no time warning his title winners Championship glory will earn them no credit in the Premier League.

The City head coach plotted a fairytale ride to the top of the English game, ensuring both him and his players will be immortalised by the club's fans.

But Farke insisted that counts for nothing when they head to Liverpool for a daunting Premier League opener against the European Cup holders next month.

"Yes, of course we have had to get that message across. Winning the Championship title does not earn you one point in the Premier League," he said. "We know this. So we take the good things out of last season; the rhythm, our balance, our confidence, but it is also up to us to improve.

"We have to improve in order to be competitive in the Premier League and we will give our best.

"At the moment you are more and more focused on working day to day but the closer that first game comes you can sense the excitement of the lads.

"As a head coach you have to be more focused and concentrated and how you can help the lads in a tough first game and, to be honest, a tough first few games.

"We worked so hard to be allowed to play on this level and we are greedy to play on this level."

City opened up their pre-season German tour with a 2-2 friendly draw against Arminia Bielefeld before beating SC Bonner 4-1 in a behind-closed-doors practice game on Tuesday.

The Canaries wrap up their tour with a testing tune up against Bundesliga outfit Schalke on Friday, and Farke is planning to use the next few weeks to experiment.

City finished the opening tour game with a back three while youngster Adam Idah took his chance with a brace against SC Bonner.

"I want to be flexible in our style and you saw at the end of the Bielefeld game we switched the base defensive formation to a three and we will continue to do that during the friendlies," he said. "We must do this in order to be a bit unpredictable and prepared for each and every situation in the Premier League.

"Adam has a gift for finishing. His instinct to be in the right position and get across his defenders.

"There are several other topics maybe in his game we have to improve and he knows this. You know my attitude with the young lads, I don't like to praise them too much, but it is great for a striker's confidence."
