Norwich City will not be splurging £10m on Dennis Man or any other player to bolster their Championship fightback.

The Canaries’ interest in the Steaua Bucharest attacker has been made public in recent days, but the two clubs appear to be wildly apart in their valuation of the 21-year-old.

A trio of Serie A teams have also been touted with the highly-rated youngster, who has four senior caps for his country.

City’s return to the Football League will be confirmed on Saturday, if they fail to beat West Ham, and that remains the primary focus for head coach Daniel Farke.

“It doesn’t frustrate me. I know how this business works. First of all, I am concentrated on finishing this season as best we can,” he said. “In the background, Stuart Webber’s job is to plan even more than we have done already.

“Our philosophy is never to comment on names, or potential business until it is done. That remains the case when there are so much rumours and speculation.

“If someone else chooses to do this, however, it is quite often a sign of how serious they are and how much truth there is.

“I would say if someone chooses to speak that proactively in public is there some other reasons in play.

“I was told the figures mentioned were 10 or 15 times what we had spent in the Premier League. I wouldn’t pay too much attention to that. This business always has people who like to talk.

“We have had plenty of experience of our players being linked with other clubs and they are still here.”

Farke is not braced for a mass turnover of his squad once relegation is confirmed.

“If you ask me, I don’t expect too much business. It won’t be 20 players go and we have to bring in 20 new players,” he said. “If we want to bounce back next season it is important we keep our best players to be competitive.

“We won’t do anything crazy. We are all tempted to go and spend some money. But in the Championship to spend 10 or 15 times what we spent in the Premier League is not realistic. The most important thing is we don’t have to sell our key players.

“I don’t expect us to spend much more than our income.

“We won’t risk the future to invest everything to return immediately. Several clubs have risked this in the Championship and it is never a guarantee.”
