Norwich City look set to miss out on Motherwell target David Turnbull after a dramatic twist on Thursday night saw Celtic revive their interest in the attacking midfielder.

The Canaries are believed to have held positive talks with Turnbull's representatives in recent days, after agreeing a fee with his Scottish Premiership club earlier in the week, but fresh reports north of the border claim the Bhoys are confident they will now win the race for the 19-year-old.

Turnbull looked to have rejected a chance to join the Scottish champions, who took to their official social media channels to hit out at the failure to agree personal terms, with City one of a number of clubs in England ready to step in.

But the Daily Record report Turnbull is poised to perform a U-turn and will look to finalise a move to Parkhead, after Celtic's top brass re-opened negotiations with the youngster's advisors.

The paper even quoted a source close to the deal who claimed Turnbull had been impressed by the Canaries' pitch and their track record of developing young talent.

"David was blown away by the people at Norwich, by what they had to offer and by the pathway they have for their young players," it said, with BBC Scotland suggesting Turnbull will sign a four year deal with the Hoops. "They made him feel really welcome. And yes, he'd have been making more money in the Premier League.

"But right now, at 19, he feels Celtic is the right football move for him - and that's the most important part of any decision he makes."

Celtic's remarkable turnaround came after Bhoys' assistant boss and one-time Canaries' loan defender, John Kennedy, had questioned the teenager's motivation for moving south, following a stellar season.

"What we want is for players to be hungry and we also want them to come here for the right reasons, not just financially," he said. "For a 19-year-old coming from Motherwell who has played pretty much one season, the offer we made was very good.

"The reality is that if players come here and do well, they will be rewarded long term as the years progress. It all comes down to a player's idea of what he wants and the representative who is advising him in that respect.

"If you do well at this club, the world is your oyster and that's what we wanted to give him."
