FA Vase finalists Lowestoft will be special guests of Norwich City this afternoon.

“18 players and management will be going to Carrow Road as the guests of Norwich on Saturday, thanks to Andrew Cullen and the team,” chairman Geoff Price said.

“The players will be walking around the pitch at half-time with the banner, “We are off to Wembley, come on The Trawlerboys.”

Joint Blues boss Micky Chapman admitted everyone was looking forward to the trip to Carrow Road, where City take on Championship leaders West Brom.

“We'll be in the hospitality suite as guests of Norwich for the day, and at half-time we can go onto the pitch, walk round the pitch in front of a full house - and this is a fantastic gesture from the club, as it's fantastic for the boys,” Chapman said.

There was more good news for the Blues this week, with a sponsor found to pay for all the tailoring of club suits for their special day at Wembley Stadium next month.

Suited and booted, all 30 players and management at the Crown Meadow club have been given £2,000 in sponsorship by former Lowestoft player Martyn Spore - who now runs Premier Racing Services (the former Churchill Bookmakers) on the Burnt Hill estate.

Spore, who as a player had four seasons at The Meadow between 1970 and 1974, had a first team record of 82 appearances scoring 10 goals. He later went on to manage Bury Town in the Southern League.

“We took over the business in March, and by sponsoring the Lowestoft players and management, it gives us an opportunity to showcase our new business,” Spore said. “As a former player I fully support the club, and even though I moved away I've always kept in touch with football in the town.”

After moving back to Lowestoft in 1997, he has remained in touch with the club - and he hailed the “fantastic achievement” of getting to Wembley for a national final.

“The final will be something that the town has never seen before - and we're delighted to be part of it,” Spore said.

And delighted with the sponsorship backing, Blues chairman Price said: “We're delighted Martyn has come on board and hopefully he will be a sponsor for years to come - as this money will allow us to tailor all the players and management in fantastic suits that will make the town really proud of them.”

On the field for the Wembley final on May 11, Lowestoft will be wearing all blue, as they clash with a Kirkham & Wesham side that will wear all white.

The match referee has also been announced: Andy D'Urso - the subject of criticism by Glenn Roeder that has led to an FA charge against the Norwich manager - will take charge of proceedings.
