Thumping second half header just cleared the bar. Marshalled the backline when City went ahead. 7
• Ben Godfrey
Denied a clear penalty when his header struck Juninho Bacuna. Progressive and adventurous in possession. Leader. 7
• Xavi Quintilla
Genuine set piece quality. Chances created for Christoph Zimmermann and Ben Godfrey from his corners. Defensively, caught out twice in the first period. 7
• Kenny McLean
Used his experience especially when City needed to close out the match. Miscued the visitors’ first sighter. 6
• Oliver Skipp
Combative in the tackle. Cool in possession. Happy to take it in tight areas. Promising league debut for the club. 8
• Kieran Dowell
Sloppy given his ability on the ball on occasion. Looked better when switched centrally. Full-blooded challenge earned a booking. 6
• Todd Cantwell
Never able to stamp his authority on proceedings. Missed opportunity to put down a marker in the central role. 6
• Onel Hernandez
Drilled first half shot at Ben Hamer. Rolled a second half attempt wide of the near post. Injected some dynamism in a laboured first half. 6
• Teemu Pukki
Composure and unselfishness to draw the keeper and serve up an assist for Adam Idah. Should have pulled the trigger thereafter when he tried to find Idah again. 7
City substitutes
• Adam Idah (for Dowell, 75) 7
Goalscoring instincts to get himself in the box for an emphatic close range match-winning strike.
• Przemyslaw Placheta (for Hernandez, 76) 6
Couple of promising darts.
• Lukas Rupp (for Cantwell, 89) n/a
