Norwich City keeper Tim Krul has joked about a future in ice hockey, after seeing Chelsea legend Petr Cech make a successful rink debut after a change of career.
The former Czech Republic and Arsenal number one - now a technical adviser at Chelsea - led the Guildford Phoenix to a shoot-out victory at the weekend, saving two efforts in the shoot-out as his side beat Swindon Wildcats' second string 3-2 at the Guildford Spectrum.
Cech, who played the sport as a youngster, joined the fourth-tier ice hockey team last week but was named his side's man of the match.
Following the impressive debut, Whitley Warriors Ice Hockey Club jokingly posted on Twitter to say: "Whitley Warriors confirm they are not in talks to sign Tim Krul."
The team are based in Whitley Bay, near Newcastle, where the Netherlands international made 185 appearances between 2006 and 2015 for Newcastle United, before a serious knee injury brought an end to his time as the Magpies' number one.
"Shame as I would have been up for that," Krul posted on Twitter with a laughing emoji, in response to the tweet.
Ice hockey is played in the Netherlands, with the men's team finishing ninth at the 1980 Winter Olympics and eighth at the World Championships in 1950 and 1981 - but it is field hockey which is more dominant in Krul's homeland, with the women's team winning Olympic gold three times and the men on two occasions.
The 31-year-old has missed City's last two games with a back problem but is hoping to return to full training in time for Saturday's trip to Bournemouth as Premier League action resumes.
