EDP and Evening News editor and Norwich City season ticket holder David Powles on a night to remember at Carrow Road.

In 35 years of watching Norwich City only Bayern Munich at home in the UEFA Cup equals that.

Sounds like hyperbole. It isn't.

For emotion, tension, atmosphere and the sheer backs to the wall brilliance of the performance of every single one of Daniel Farke's men, it doesn't get any better. A night none of us will ever forget. The sort of occasion we turn up week in, week out in the hope of witnessing.

The funny thing is I predicted a Norwich City win to chief sports writer Paddy Davitt on Friday afternoon.

Did I mean it? Did I heck. No one in their right mind would have seriously predicted a Norwich win.

Manchester City, with their world renowned manager, star studded squad and illustrious recent history were expected to simply turn up, do the job and leave. And perhaps that was their weakness.

Norwich City, with their gung-ho approach and ever growing injury list, were expected to be a push over. But every Norwich City fan should know by now to expect the unexpected as far as this Canary team is concerned.

And what a team. Warriors every one.

Sat high up in the South Stand you really get a sense of just how much effort those players put in during the 94 minute battle. Up front Teemu Pukki did his usual stint hassling and harrying the City defence at every opportunity.

Todd Cantwell, the Norfolk boy not really expected to be a part of this Premier League campaign, did Norfolk proud with his tricks and flicks, passing and pressurising. It's so great when you see that the goals mean just as much to players like him as they do the fans.

Meanwhile, the defensive unit, including keeper, defenders and most of the midfield, could not be faulted for commitment and bravery. Alex Tettey rolled back the years, Ibrahim Amadou played like he'd been in that back four all his career and Ben Godfrey looked every inch the England defender we know he'll become.

And how the crowd responded to it. On all sides of Carrow Road.

In the last 12 months we've grown used to a better atmosphere in the stands, but this was something else.

As I watched the elderly gentleman in front of me on his feet spitting out the words to 'Farke On A Horse', I just knew this was a special night.
