Max Aarons insists he is not letting transfer talk distract him from Norwich City’s survival mission.

The England Under-21 right back has been linked with massive clubs home and abroad again this month, with Wednesday's opponents Tottenham routinely touted as suitors.

Aarons is on a long term Carrow Road deal but it is one game at a time for the 20-year-old.

"I come in and work as hard as I can and focus on being ready for the next game, as all the boys do," he said. "I'm 20 years old so I've got a lot of improvement to do, I'm not thinking about anything else. Speculation is normal when a transfer window opens.

"We've had a few tough weeks in terms of results, so to get a win at the weekend (against Bournemouth) lifts us going into the Tottenham game. It's been a better, more positive week.

"The main thing for us was that the performances were still there even though we were losing, which was hard to take, but we got the reward we deserved on the weekend.

"We have to stick to what we're doing and stay focused on that. People could see that we were playing well. Apart from the Manchester United game, the last seven weeks we were in games and on the front foot, but it wasn't falling for us. Hopefully the Bournemouth game will take us forward."

Aarons, speaking to the club's official site, feels City should take plenty of confidence from a festive 2-2 home draw against Spurs.

"We deserved to win," he said. "The decision on Teemu's goal was harsh on us, but we took a lot of positivity from that game. We'll go into the one on Wednesday trying to emulate that.

"In the first half, we won the ball in midfield and took both chances. One was cancelled out, but we were clinical. In the second half, they came into it a bit more.

"You know what you're going to get with a Jose Mourinho side; they're going to be solid and hard to beat but, in that game, we had our own plan and executed it well. We knew the area where we could hurt them."
