Tom Trybull has shown his commitment to Norfolk life with substantial donations to two local charities - and the midfielder is also hoping to make a substantial contribution on the pitch as Norwich City resume their season.
Lockdown life was quite different for the German as his wife, Anna, is pregnant and due to have their first child in August. Mrs Trybull released a children’s book last year based on her husband’s life entitled ‘The Story of Tommy T’ and that has allowed them to donate £5,000 to both Age UK Norwich and East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices.
The City ace explained: “The opportunity is still there to buy a book and to be part of this, because the two charities we support, for us, we kind of feel responsible to play a part and try to have as much impact as possible on people.
“I think it’s a good way to help others. We’re really looking forward and really pleased with how much money we’ve raised with the book, and to support the charity facilities and especially the people.”
The generous donation comes as the Canaries gear up for the resumption of the Premier League season behind closed doors with a home game against Southampton next Friday.
Trybull had only featured in FA Cup matches in 2020 prior to football’s suspension due to the Covid-19 pandemic in March though, not making it off the bench in the last nine league games, but is hopeful he can force his way back into Daniel Farke’s starting line-up.
“To be honest, the last three games I played, Villa, Leicester and Wolves, I played really well,” he said, of his last three top-flight starts. “We showed some good performances and after that I didn’t play any more.
“This is what I had to accept during this time so we will see. I have proved already what kind of impact I can have for our team but in the end it is up to the boss, he has to make a decision on what is best for the team.”
City take on Tottenham in a friendly tomorrow before they turn their attentions to trying to overhaul the six-point gap to safety during the final nine games of the season.
Trybull added: “I think it will be a good friendly and can show us a little bit where we are at the moment. But of course we then have one more week to improve a couple of things, to work on a couple of bits and to be ready for Southampton and Everton – because these two games are very important.”

The donation made to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (Each) was presented at the charity’s Poringland shop earlier today with a bag of clothes from Mr and Mrs Trybull, as the charity gears up to reopen five of its shops.
Each launched a fund-raising appeal at the start of lockdown to address a forecasted income gap of £1.8million over 12 weeks, caused by the cancellation and postponement of fund-raising events, and the closure of the charity’s 43 shops.
