Norwich City academy graduate Todd Cantwell has spoken of his gratitude to boss Daniel Farke for progressing his career at the club and admits it’s a dream come true to be playing for City in the Premier League.

Cantwell has been one of the shining lights of the Canaries campaign so far with his improvement on the pitch being praised by supporters and pundits alike. The midfielder is opting to stay grounded despite his improved form with a commitment to ensuring he repays the trust Farke has shown in him.

"He's shown a lot of faith in me, giving me the opportunity to play and I'm trying to show that back to him in the games that he picks me for." Cantwell added, "I think it's important to have that relationship with the manager off the pitch as well and I get on really well with him personally. I'm thankful for what he's done for me."

Farke's trust in young players saw four of City's academy players promoted to the senior ranks, with all of them starring in the clubs' title success in the Championship last season.

When asked about Cantwell, City's Head Coach stated "He's proved himself from day to day since pre-season began and was a massive part of last season but to step up his level in the best league in the world is outstanding and you can only praise him."

"Of course we work with him but we can only bring them close to the door, they have to make the step through. Just potential isn't enough, you need a big will to work hard with discipline and be greedy to improve from day to day."

Cantwell's Norfolk roots means representing City on the biggest stage is a dream come true. Admitting the trust Farke has showed in the Canaries young operators has been pivotal to the team spirit that has been crucial to their success.

"I think it gives us all a boast, to know that we're trusted enough to do a job where other clubs think they need to spend millions of pounds. It's a compliment in many ways that he [Farke] has kept with the lads here and all we can try and do now is show that back to him by trying to get the results that we need."
