The next stage of football’s coronavirus shutdown is set to arrive tomorrow, with Norwich City’s players waiting for confirmation from Uefa that this month’s international games have been postponed.

European football's governing body is meeting on Tuesday, to confirm immediate plans and to discuss the potential postponement of this summer's European Championship, as well as the Champions League and Europa League club competitions.

The Football Association have already postponed England friendlies against Denmark and Italy at Wembley and European qualifiers for the under-21s have also been postponed.

Canaries trio Max Aarons, Todd Cantwell and Ben Godfrey would have been in contention for the U21s but Euro 2021 qualifiers against Andorra in Stoke and Turkey in Burnley have been postponed, as has action for the U20s, U19s and U17s.

It's a similar story for young City striker Adam Idah, with the Republic of Ireland U21s scheduled to be hosting Iceland and travelling to Luxembourg in Euro qualifying, although official postponement hasn't been confirmed yet.

Many senior friendlies have already been called off as European football goes into lockdown to prevent the spreading of Covid-19 across the continent and putting unnecessary strain on emergency services.

That includes Switzerland (Josip Drmic) and Holland (Tim Krul), although Finland (Teemu Pukki) are yet to announce that their friendlies against Poland and France have been called off - as part of Euro 2020 preparations.

Others were preparing for qualification play-offs though. Michael McGovern and Jamal Lewis are scheduled to be heading to Bosnia & Herzegovina with Northern Ireland on Thursday, with Kenny McLean and Grant Hanley likely to be involved as Scotland hosted Israel.

As things stand loan midfielder Ondrej Duda will be returning to Slovakia to face the Republic of Ireland, in a play-off which will be played behind closed doors.

However, it's widely expected Uefa will postpone all games. That follows on from world governing body Fifa postponing World Cup qualifying fixtures in South America and Asia, as football reacts to the pandemic.
