Daniel Farke revealed Grant Hanley is still on the comeback trail as he weighs up whether to make changes for Norwich City’s Premier League trip to Southampton.

Hanley has yet to rejoin full team training following his groin injury and is not in contention for the Saints or Sheffield United's visit to Carrow Road.

Farke reported no fresh injuries on Tuesday afternoon from the squad who drew 2-2 against Arsenal. Alex Tettey missed out for family reasons and is a doubt for the trip to the south-coast with a muscular problem.

"Alex is back in the mix but he has some slight muscle problems and will have a test later today. Everyone else seems alright from the last game," said Farke. "With Grant, still not in team training. He won't return this week. The first step for him is to join us in team training. That is a bit tricky this week as we don't really have a session where we are all together.

"Even on Monday we had two groups, the ones with a lot of load against Arsenal had a more recovery session and the others more intense. Today (Tuesday) a light session for all the group. Perhaps during the next week but let's see how it develops."

Farke is mindful a number of his squad have only returned from longer term lay-offs as he weighs up his plans for Southampton.

"It is not necessary, because we have a bigger load (this week), to rotate too much," he said. "Only for some tactical reasons or the other thing is we have several players who were not used to playing three games in a week after longer term injury.

"If I think about Tom Trybull or Onel Hernandez, who were out for two to three months. The same with Christoph Zimmermann. We are not tempted to rotate too much but we have some late decisions to make. Sam Byram hardly played last season and we have to be careful with him.

"We will be looking at the physical data because we have to be smart. In this level you have to invest a lot physically as well as mentally, even more than the Championship because the quality of the teams is better.

"I am not talking six or seven positions. That might be different from Boxing Day to the Tottenham game."
