Norwich City U16s yesterday announced a showpiece friendly against their Celtic counterparts at Carrow Road on Friday, March 23 (7.30pm) in aid of the club's 'Tactic Zone' appeal.

The club launched a £250,000 appeal last February to build new state-of-the-art facilities for the Canaries' youngsters at the Colney training centre.

More than £100,000 has already been raised to provide a place for academy players to learn more about the tactical side of the game, assisted by the latest in coaching technology.

All proceeds from the match will go towards the Tactic Zone appeal with a half time demonstration of skills from City's academy sides also planned.

"It should be a great night for all the lads," said academy manager Ricky Martin. "It promises to be an entertaining spectacle, with Celtic providing first class opposition. We send our thanks to Celtic for agreeing to visit us and we hope as many supporters as possible come along to the game and help us raise yet more funds for the Tactic Zone."

Tactic Zone patron and former Canaries youth product Darren Eadie has given the match his full backing.

"It's a great opportunity for our lads to pit their wits against a very strong youth side from Celtic," he said. "As a youngster, nothing compares to playing in front of a big crowd and this should be a night to remember for them."

City boss and former Hoops legend Peter Grant is looking forward to seeing the club's next generation in action.

"It should be a great game for the lads to enjoy in front of what should hopefully be a big Carrow Road crowd," he said. "The Tactic Zone is a great appeal and hugely worthwhile and I hope everyone gives it the support it deserves."

Tickets are now on sale for the match, priced £5 for adults, £3 concessions and £1 for under 16s. Visit the Carrow Road ticket office or call 0870 444 1902.
