Norwich City sporting director Stuart Webber has agreed a new Canaries’ contract to stay at the club until 2022.

Webber joins head coach Daniel Farke and the German's backroom staff in pledging his longer term future to the Premier League new boys.

The Welshman had been in talks with the club's hierarchy over the past few months to map out the next phase of the club's overhaul, and his role in that, after helping to transform City's fortunes since being recruited from Huddersfield in April 2017.

"I'm obviously thrilled to sign," Webber told the club's official site. "I'm very grateful to be in this position at what is a special club.

"I'm looking forward to overcoming the hurdles that await and to continuing to build on what we've achieved so far.

"I'm extremely thankful to have the support and trust of our majority shareholders, Delia and Michael, and the rest of the board, as well as to be working alongside Ben Kensell and Zoe Ward on the Executive Committee.

"When we first sat down to talk about the new contract it took all of ten minutes to sort out. It was a really simple and quick conversation.

"I'm fortunate to have a special relationship with Daniel (Farke), which is very much based on complete trust. I'm looking forward to another three years of working closely with him, as we attempt to achieve our objectives and targets.

"The players and staff have been amazing during my time with the club so far and we wouldn't be in this position without their hard work and commitment.

"I'm excited to see how far our current group of players and staff can go. It's important we don't stand still. We must now continue to strive to improve and better ourselves in all areas. Whether we're successful or not, win or lose, we must continue to be together."

Webber hand picked Farke to lead the revival on the pitch and has overseen a radical overhaul of the academy and the recruitment departments. In the aftermath of City's Championship promotion success, majority shareholder Delia Smith labelled the club's sporting director a 'genius'.

"The contract for Stuart was something we were extremely keen to finalise," said Smith and her husband Michael Wynn Jones on the official site. "We're absolutely thrilled at the job that Stuart has done, working with Ben and Zoe on the Executive Committee.

"It has been an immense team effort from Daniel, the players and staff so far. Stuart has been amazing in being the real driving force behind our club philosophy and vision."
