Paul Lambert and the Canaries will be glad to have seen the back of Manchester City this season after being beaten in both league fixtures and conceding 11 goals.

They lost 5-1 at the Etihad Stadium in early December, conceding four goals in the second half after a brave first-half performance. It was a similar story last Saturday, after conceding two goals in the opening 27 minutes after some terrific forward play by Carlos Tevez and his compatriot Sergio Aguero.

The lads soon settled down after the setback and deservedly got themselves back into the game. Andrew Surman scored for the Canaries, who had come close on a couple of occasions through Grant Holt and Anthony Pilkington, the latter after a great run down the left wing and shot from the former Manchester United trainee.

Sadly there was to be no comeback as Tevez and company turned up the heat and scored four goals in the last 17 minutes of the game, with Tevez completing his hat-trick in only his second start for City since his six-month golfing holiday in South America!

He’s a fantastic player when his head is right, as it clearly was on Saturday, but his antics over the majority of this season have been absolutely shocking. The only downside to Roberto Mancini’s men winning the title would be that Tevez will pick up another Premier League medal, one he ultimately doesn’t deserve.

Today it’s the penultimate away game of the season for the Canaries with another journey to the North West to face Blackburn Rovers.

It’s been a tremendous season, as we all know, and five wins in 17 away games have been instrumental in the club maintaining their rightful place in the Premier League.

The lads can go out and enjoy a game they are more than capable of winning. True, Steve Kean’s men gave a very good account of themselves when they went 3-1 up at Carrow Road back in October, but all too often this season Blackburn have demonstrated their defensive frailties, as evidenced when Norwich came back to score two late goals to win another vital point that many other teams would have given up on.

Blackburn are second from bottom – three points from 17th place – and are staring relegation in the face. They have lost 11 games at home this season, only bottom club Wolves losing more. They are in a shocking run of form, their defeat at Swansea last Saturday being their fifth consecutive loss.

Ewood Park has not been a happy place all season with the home supporters protesting against the ownership of the club and the management of Steve Kean, making for some difficult time this season.

I was up there earlier in the season when Swansea were the visitors. That day, the Blackburn faithful had got right behind the team and when Yakubu fired the home team ahead the place erupted.

However, when Yakubu turned and ran down the touchline to celebrate with and show his support for the manager, the whole atmosphere of the stadium altered in a moment, with boos and all sorts of obscenities being directed towards The Yak and Kean from the home support. I have never witnessed anything like it with the club’s supporters showing such displeasure after they had just taken the lead.

I think the boys will be determined to put on a performance for the Norwich fans who make the long journey up north and record a good result to get the disappointment of last Saturday out of their system.
