Norwich City and Tampa Bay Rowdies have announced new ‘Yellow and Green Dream’ summer camps to be held in Florida, following the recent launch of a partnership between the two clubs.

The Canaries first team spent a week in the Tampa Bay area during the November international break, spending time with the local sports franchises and training at the Al Lang Stadium, the home of the Rowdies.

Subsequently a new partnership between City and the Rowdies was announced last month, as one of the Canaries’ young talents was loaned to the United Soccer League team.

Left-back Caleb Richards, 20, has since started both of the team’s opening Championship Eastern Conference games, playing on the left-side of a three-man defence, helping earn a 1-0 win at Memphis 901 and a 2-0 home win over Pittsburgh.

The Rowdies are managed by former Sheffield United and Wolves defender Neil Collins, who is assisted by ex-Stoke striker Martin Paterson.

The Yellow and Green Dream collaboration will be football camps for 15 to 19-year-olds of both genders, taking place in Tampa between July 16 and 20.

Canaries legend Grant Holt – who was in Tampa in November as a club ambassador – and coaches from both clubs will watch youngsters take part in a range of football-based activities over the week, culminating in watching the Rowdies take on Saint Louis at the Al Lang Stadium.

A statement explained: “The most promising participants will be invited back to showcase their talent in front of senior Norwich City and Rowdies football staff in Tampa Bay in November 2019.

“The winners will then be flown across the Atlantic to Norwich, where they will undertake a seven day professional experience at Norwich City’s Colney Training Centre, followed by a pre-season training experience with the Rowdies in 2020.

“More details will also be available shortly on how UK-based Canary youngsters can get the chance to secure their place at the camps too.”

Those details have subsequently been released, with a ‘Yellow & Green Dream: Player Showcase’ offering Norfolk players a chance to earn a trip to the camp in Tampa.

Former City striker Holt and academy coaches will oversee the event at Colney on Monday, April 22 (6pm to 9pm), for Norfolk-based players who will be aged 18 or 19 between July 15 and 21, who play no higher than the Eastern Counties League or equivalent level and who have not been a player registered to an academy set up in the last 12 months.

The long-term partnership announced in February is set to see the Canaries make further visits to the Tampa Bay area, with the club continuing their major sponsorship deal with Visit Tampa Bay.

The Rowdies also play in yellow and green, offering merchandising opportunities on both sides of the Atlantic, and Norwich academy players are set to follow in Richards’ footsteps by also spending time on loan in the future.

The cost of the youth camps is publicised as $300, or $325 over three payments, For full details, go to rowdiessoccer.com/yandgdream or for details of the Norfolk-based Player Showcase go to canaries.co.uk/yellowandgreendream
