Norwich City left-back Jamal Lewis may have had to withdraw from the Northern Ireland squad to get a knee injury checked but there are still six Canaries players in contention for action on the final night of the international break.

The 21-year-old's return to Norfolk to have his knee assessed is believed to be precautionary, having played 81 minutes of Saturday's 0-0 draw with Holland in Belfast.

Lewis was replaced with nine minutes remaining of a draw which finished automatic qualification hopes for Michael O'Neill's squad despite being a positive result.

The play-offs await but first a dead rubber against already qualified Germany in Frankfurt awaits tonight, with City keeper Michael McGovern still with the squad.

The defender has started every Premier League game of the season for Norwich so far but didn't join up with his country for the October international break due to a knee complaint and has come off during the second half of two of City's last three games.

With a trip to Everton awaiting on Saturday it seems club and country have taken the sensible approach, getting the knee looked at and not risking the injury getting worse.

Elsewhere, Max Aarons and Ben Godfrey remain with the England Under-21s ahead of a friendly in Holland on Tuesday evening, a 5.30pm kick-off being shown live by BT Sport.

Canaries defender Godfrey played all of a 3-0 European qualifying win in Albania on Friday but right-back Aarons was an unused substitute.

Kenny McLean is still with the Scotland squad as they conclude their Euro 2020 qualification in similar style to Northern Ireland, knowing they'll be going into the play-offs thanks to their performance in the Nations League.

City midfielder McLean was not involved at all in Saturday's 2-1 win in Cyprus though, so it remains to be seen if he features against Kazakhstan in Glasgow tomorrow (7.45pm).

Young striker Adam Idah could also be in action on Tuesday, with the Republic of Ireland U21s looking to stay on course for European Championship qualification after a 1-0 win in Armenia on Thursday.

They host Sweden in Dublin (8pm), with Idah joined in the squad by Norwich winger Simon Power, who is on loan at Scottish club Ross County.
