Doncaster chairman John Ryan says their game against Norwich tonight is bigger than the FA Cup replay against Aston Villa - and has pleaded with fans to turn out and support his team.

Ryan is hoping to hit the 11,000 mark as City make their first visit to Doncaster for 50 years.

“Norwich won't bring many with it being a Friday night game so it would be nice to see all the Doncaster part of the ground full,” he said.

“We have got 8,000 season ticket holders so we need to attract another 3,500.

“I know a lot of people will be going to Villa Park for the replay next Wednesday, but the Norwich game is more important than the Cup game because if we beat them we'll go above them in the table and staying in this division has always being our main priority.

“Has there ever been a better time to be a Doncaster Rovers' supporter? If people don't support us now they are not fans.

“We've got players who attract multi-million pound bids on the transfer market and I would have thought that people would want to come and watch fabulous players such as Mills, Stock, Wellens and others.

“It is not just the fact that we are winning games - we've won our last four league games - it is the style with which we are doing and the credit must go to manager Sean O'Driscoll.”

Having said previously that he settle for fourth bottom, Ryan is now setting his sights higher.

“I think that we may finish at least 15th,” he said.
