Norwich City have lost out in their chase for Tony Capaldi after the full-back completed a switch to Championship side Cardiff City.

The Northern Ireland international had been linked with a move to Carrow Road but has decided to sign a three-year contract with the Bluebirds.

Norwegian-born Capaldi had made it clear that he would be leaving Plymouth after four years with the Pilgrims and revealed he was talking to “four Championship” clubs before his move to Ninian Park.

Wolves had looked favourites to sign him but Cardiff launched an eleventh hour raid to snatch the 25-year-old old away from Mick McCarthy clutches.
