Kieran Dowell believes Norwich City possess the strength in depth to beat anybody in the Championship this season.

The attacking midfielder joined City from Everton this summer and was an impressive figure during the Canaries tour of Germany last month. Dowell scored and assisted in a standout individual performance against SC Verl.

The club acted swiftly to improve the quality of their squad, with Dowell one of the 11 new faces to enter Daniel Farke’s side since the end of last season.

Ahead of the new campaign, Dowell believes the increased depth in the City squad will provide them with a competitive edge as they begin life in the Championship.

“We’ve got some great players, great depth, and great ability. A lot of the players bring lots of different things so they’re easy to play with to be fair, it’s been really easy to settle in and I’ve settled in well so far,” he told City’s official channels.

“This league is such a long season so you’re going to need that strength in depth and we’ve definitely got that here.”

After signing for the Canaries, Dowell stated that Farke’s track record in helping young talent flourish was a key factor in his decision to move to Carrow Road.

The midfielder has experienced a series of loans and is now hoping to find a home and develop his craft further under City’s boss.

“Ever since the first day, it’s been really intense in the work we do but enjoyable as well, so we get a lot out of it. You’re leaving the training ground shattered but you feel great and feel fit coming in the next day, so it’s been good so far.

“I think they signed me because they thought I’d fit into it, so hopefully it will prove to be the case in the games to come.”

The Canaries travel to Huddersfield Town to kick-off their Championship season on Saturday - and Dowell is keen for City to assert their dominance in their new surroundings.

“It’s a good stadium and they’re a decent side with a new manager and a new style of play, which we’ve been looking into, but we’ll fancy ourselves against anyone in this division.

“It’s nice to win playing well, but as long as we get the three points that’s all that matters really.”
