City reveal plans for capacity expansion

Norwich City have unveiled the rest of their plans for expanding the capacity at Carrow Road to 27,000.

The club recently announced the redevelopment to parts of the Norwich and Peterborough Stand's upper tier to accommodate 160 new seats. Now City have revealed those additions will affect the four main parts of Carrow Road, with the Jarrold Stand, Geoffrey Watling City Stand and Barclay Stand also taking on new rows.

Customer services manager Richard Gough said: “We are beginning the process now of installing around 1,000 new seats into the stadium, which will give us a capacity of 27,000.

“Every stand is being affected. We are essentially installing new rows of seats in existing stands rather than building a temporary stand as some have speculated.

“The Norwich and Peterborough Upper is slightly different because we're reconfiguring the existing seats, but everywhere else in the stadium it's a case of installing new rows. In order to accommodate these extra rows, no existing seats are being removed.”

The club have promised to contact those fans directly affected by the changes, while no season tickets in the new areas will be sold until existing season ticket holders have the option to purchase them.

Gough added: “There will be around 1,000 new seats in the stadium, but anyone who is sat in a seat where a new row is installed in front of them will have an opportunity to move into that seat if they wish to do so. And what we will be doing is writing to those supporters shortly with a detailed plan of the new seats in their area and giving them an opportunity, and the dates and information on how to go about moving into those new seats if they wish to do so.

“These new seats also have the potential to deliver extra revenues to the club, with every spare penny going to support Paul Lambert and his first team budget as we prepare for Championship football.”
