City run rule over Whitley Bay striker

Norwich City have been linked with a possible move for Whitley Bay striker Lee Kerr. Kerr, 19, who recently had a trial with Newcastle United, has scored 20 goals for the Northern League Division One side this season and it is believed that the Canaries are interested in giving him a similar trial at Carrow Road after Easter.

Magpies boss Glenn Roeder saw the Jarrow-born striker Kerr go close to scoring on his debut for United's reserves against Bolton Wanderers earlier in the week after partnering £9.5m Albert Luque up front.

However, Roeder has decided against offering Kerr a contract at the club, despite believing he has a professional future in the game, although not yet at Premiership level.
