Norwich City’s academy youngsters will take on the under-18s of Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers in the third round of the FA Youth Cup.

The Canaries lifted the trophy for the second time in 2013 and are the only club during the past 15 seasons to have won it aside from the top-flight big boys of Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal and reigning champions Manchester City.

City reached the quarter-finals in 2016 and 2018 but have been knocked out in the fourth round in the last two seasons, 3-0 at Preston in 2019 and 2-0 by Manchester United in front of over 3,000 fans at Carrow Road in January of this year.

Prior to that exit Josh Martin had scored a hat-trick during a 3-2 home win over Newcastle, including a brilliant long-range strike to seal progress - with the midfielder going on to earn a long-term contract and first team appearances after that night.

Wolves made the final four times during the early years of the Youth Cup, with their one win being in 1958, but have not made the final since 1976.

Fixture details are yet to be confirmed but the game has to be played by the deadline of Saturday, December 12.
