McDonald's 85th-minute goal secured a 2-1 win at the Banks' Stadium on Tuesday, and with leading scorer Grant Holt suspended for another two games, he can stake a claim for a starting berth against Hartlepool this weekend with a good performance for Ian Crook's second string side.
It's a strong reserves side that travels to Hertfordshire for the Totesport.com Combination clash at Broadhall Way (7pm) - the first league action since the end of October.
Goalkeeper Declan Rudd will make his return to competitive action after a lengthy lay-off through injury, while Rhoys Wiggins, new signing Zak Whitbread, Tom Adeyemi, Matt Gill, Paul McVeigh and Antony McNamee also start - although there is no sign of Jamie Cureton's name in the squad.
