Norwich City have have terminated Carl Cort's contract early by mutual consent.

The 31-year-old joined the Canaries on December 9, until the end of the 2008-09 season - his contract was set to expire on June 30.

Speaking the club's official website, City boss Bryan Gunn said: "We wish Carl all the best. He came in at a difficult time and did a good job for me when I took over.

"We wish him well with his fitness battle and hope he finds a new club and we see his career progress."

Cort made his City debut at the Madejski Stadium against Reading four days after signing and scored his only goal for Norwich in February 2009 in the 3-3 draw with Wolves at Molineux.
