With the pitches at all County 5IVES centres having been cleared of snow, the County FA’s Small Sided Leagues returned to action this week.

The focus of this week’s report is on two leagues operating at different venues; the Sportspark Centre on a Tuesday and the Monday night Ladies League at the Football Development Centre.

• Sportspark Centre

Teams in the Tuesday night league at UEA enjoyed their first game of the season and they were clearly keen to get going. On an evening described by the league coordinator as a ‘brilliant’, there were certainly some eye catching performances and results.

There were comprehensive wins for ‘Truffle Shuffles’, ‘Constable Crusaders’ and ‘A & B’ in the Premiership, while in the Championship there were a number of closer games. The night’s big winners were ‘Multiple Scoregasm’, who beat ‘King Khalid’ 11-4. Elsewhere there were wins for ‘Borussia Monchengarybach’, ‘Renford Rovers’ and ‘The Heigham Collective’.

• Ladies FDC Centre

Bungay Town Ladies made their Premiership debut after joining the league in week two. Unfortunately for them they fell to a 7-4 defeat against ‘Hockering Ladies A’. The game of the night was ‘Lowestoft Town Ladies’ vs ‘2014’, which ‘2014’ won 7-6. The victory also moved them joint top with ‘Misfits’, who were not in action due to the one vacancy currently within the league. ‘Pidge Has Flown’ secured their first points of the season, after seeing off ‘Team Tango’ 11-7.

We have a single vacancy in our Ladies Premiership with any female team invited to come and join this exciting league. We are only two weeks into a 14-week season, so there is plenty left to play for. Games take place between 7-10pm on Monday nights at the FDC. In the Championship ‘Chompoo FC’ and ‘Hardly Athletic’ lead the way, with both teams enjoying a 100 per cent record after two games. ‘North Elmham’ also secured a big win against newcomers ‘Norfolk Girls’, who are learning all the time and have scored in both of their games to date, which is positive for them.

• New Thursday Mini League

We are running a new Thursday night five-a-side mini league at the FDC. This league is open to males aged 16 and over. With limited space available, any interested team is urged to get in contact with the FDC to avoid the disappointment of missing out on this 10-week league.
