They extended the lead on the half-hour mark when Sam Kelly was brought down in the box, allowing captain George Francomb to score from the spot.
City continued to dominate in the second half, but some poor defending saw the Sky Blues hit back with a goal on 80 minutes and then a second five minutes from time.
