Norwich City midfielder Andrew Crofts, who scored a debut goal in the 3-2 home defeat by Watford on Friday night, has been included in the Wales squad for the international friendly against Luxembourg at Llanelli next Wednesday.

The Luxembourg clash at Parc y Scarlets is manager John Toshack's last opportunity to work with his side before the Euro 2012 qualifiers begin with a trip to Montenegro next month.

The match has caused consternation as it clashes with the opening round of the Carling Cup - City face Gillingham at Carrow Road on Tuesday night and Crofts will not be available - and comes just three days before the Premier League starts.

Toshack is braced for complaints from various club managers.

“I fully understand the frustration of the league managers who have got to lose the players for three or four days at the start of a new season,” he said.

“I have been in that position before and know the problems, but as a country we have to take the opportunity to get the boys together.”
